Most of us tend to regard the basement space as a dark area which can only be used for storing things which are not used frequently. Frankly speaking, this is only because the area isn’t designed properly. You will be delighted to know that a wasteful basement space can be easily transformed into an appealing guest bedroom area.
Placing the guest room in the basement is a win-win situation. Nobody gets bumped from their bedroom, and guests are far enough away from the main level that they don’t feel like intruders.
Remodeling your basement means losing some storage space, so make sure you include built-ins wherever possible to accommodate the items you still need to store out of the way.
It’s easy to make the space homey by introducing accessories. If there are no windows in the room, hang full size curtains to create the illusion of windows. Hang pictures on the wall, place lamp shades or flower vases on the side table, spread an area rug on the floor, and hang a wall clock.
Spending a night in your new basement guest room and get away, right in your own home!
