If you’ve chosen to add a heat source to your garage, or even if you haven’t, you may be considering adding insulation to keep the heat in. This article offers another reason to consider adding insulation. It adds a layer of soundproofing to the walls to reduce the sounds that travel outside the garage. Here are a few basic points about garage insulation.
- If you’re unsure whether there’s insulation in your walls or not, look to see if there’s insulation around the top or bottom of the wall. You also may have to poke a small hole in the drywall to find out.
- If you haven’t finished the walls, it’s simple to add bat insulation between the studs
- If you’ve already put up drywall in the garage, you can spray blown insulation from the top of the wall between the studs. This way you get insulation without tearing out your walls.
- Your hardware store will have insulation panels that you can use for your garage door as well.
