It will soon be time to start packing Christmas decorations away for another year. Many have already started the process. This page offers 10 hints for storing holiday items so that they will be protected for next year and easier to get out. Here are a few main points.
- Boxes with linens or items having sentimental value should be stored off the ground but not in the attic or garage rafters to protect them from water damage.
- Candles should not be stored near heat sources, in the attic or garage rafters. Otherwise they might melt in the heat of summer. Putting candles in old socks or stockings will prevent them from getting scratched.
- A specially made Christmas tree bag or box is the best container for artificial trees. The length of the trees makes them especially suitable to for storage in rafters.
- Number the boxes of holiday items according to what items you will need first. Make sure box No. 1 is the last one put away.
